What to bring

We understand that going to the dentist is a huge source of anxiety for a lot of patients.  Our philosophy is that the more comfortable you are as a patient, the easier it is for everyone and the higher quality of care we can provide you.  In addition to local anesthetic, we offer the following options:

  • Nitrous oxide:  This is great for patients that have an anxiety level of 4–7 out of 10. We get a lot of positive feedback from patients who use nitrous.

  • Oral sedation:  A safe pill that is taken 2 hours before before the appointment.  Someone will need to drive you to your appointment.  For patients that have an anxiety level of 7+.

  • IV sedation: This is rarely needed but provides an option for patients who have required general sedation in the past. An anesthesiologist will accompany us in the office for these select cases and provide deep sedation. A driver is required.

Anxious?

At Keystone Endodontics, we aim to provide top-quality professional care in a warm and welcoming manner. During your initial appointment, we will conduct x-rays, perform diagnostic tests, and review your diagnosis and treatment possibilities. Usually, we can initiate treatment on the same day after the consultation. However, if you have a detailed medical background, a complex treatment regimen, or are exploring sedation choices, we may arrange a separate visit for the treatment session.

The procedure will be performed using local anesthesia. There are usually no restrictions after your appointment concerning driving or returning to work. If a problem should arise following treatment, please contact our office.

Please continue taking all medications for blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid problems, and any other conditions as recommended by your physician. If you are required to take pre-medication for prosthetic joint or heart condition, please remember to take the prescribed medication 1 hour before your appointment. If there is a question, please call our office prior to your appointment.

On the day of your first appointment, if you are taking medications to ease discomfort, please refrain from taking them for 8 hours prior to your appointment if feasible.  Having these in your system can make diagnosing your problem more difficult.  After describing the problem that you have been experiencing, a comprehensive examination and digital radiographs will be taken to determine the proper diagnosis of your case. This will be followed by a discussion of treatment alternatives and prognosis.  Once all your questions have been answered and the consent forms signed, endodontic therapy can be started. A complex medical history or treatment plan may require additional appointments to complete the treatment.

Please eat a full breakfast or lunch as applicable.
